Summertime…and the packing is easy!

Horseback riding, fishing, packing trips, camping, and hunting – we have it all!  Our Montana ranch provides the outdoorsy family a wealth of opportunity to spend some quality time together doing something everyone will enjoy.

Early July brings with it Packing season, the best time of year for fishing and taking in the majesty of the Montana wilderness.

We are home to some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes in the country, lying just beyond the ranch.  Sights this beautiful can only be seen by foot or on horseback – and we have the perfect packing trip to get you close to the action.  On our packing trips, we use gentle saddle horses equipped with comfortable saddles that are custom fitted to each guest before we leave the corrals. 

In the summertime, we travel to Bob Marshall Wilderness, consisting of more than one million acres of untouched natural beauty.  There are several trails that lead into the Bob Marshall, each one ending at awe-inspiring scenery and world-class fishing. 

Our Holland Lake Trail can take you in several directions, depending on your fancy.  Do you want to take in high alpine camps, beautiful mountain lakes, or visit the South Fork of the Flathead River?  Whatever you choose, you are sure to have a memorable experience.  When you reach the campsite, you can toss our line into the waters where your skills will be challenged by the cutthroat trout.  And if you want to cool off, dive into the lake and enjoy a refreshing swim. 

For the shutterbug in you, this area is replete with scenery that will have you snapping pictures at every turn.  On the South Fork of the Flathead River, there are several different campsites at which we stay for a day or two’s layover.  We’ll take side trips to Charlotte Park, Pilot Peak, or Big Salmon Lake.  Another day or overnight trip will take us to the world-renowned Chinese wall, the epitome of natural splendor.  On the way back to the Holland Lake corrals, we usually take a different route, and we arrive back anywhere between seven and eight days after departure.

Along the way, you just might encounter many of the furry and feathered friends that inhabit the area.  Look for mountain goats, bears, deer, elk, martin, rock chuck, badgers, chipmunk, and some ruffed and blue grouse!  And if you listen closely, you might hear a wolf howling!
